When I started out in photography I was just a student in college. I had no idea that anyone would consider me to have talent until in my senior year (or maybe it was just after graduating) a friend came to me asking me to take her engagement photos. My jaw dropped and I asked her if she was serious since I had never done anything out of class. She said I was a good photographer and I was still in disbelief since all I had taken photos of were assignments for class. Nevertheless she convinced me and I went and borrowed another friend's DSLR.
A couple years later when my grandmother passed I found out my grandfather as an avid amateur photographer. My family allowed me to go through ALL his photos and pick out the ones I would like to keep. I spent a good few hours with a box in the corner of a room just going through each of his photos. I even found he had submitted selected pictures to a New York magazine! How awesome! I never knew anything other than allergies and sinus issues were inherited. I tracked down the magazine (which has changed names but still in existence) and reached out to them about any way to know what had become of the submissions. Unfortunately, they had not been digitized and were in the "archives."
These two experiences cemented my love for photography and I have been hooked ever since. I'm truly thankful for all those who have hired me, supported me, and encouraged me to continue with photography. With the launch of my website I look forward to see what the future holds.
